Welcome to Ourday Preschool!

We got Adam's class assignment letter a couple days ago.  He will be in the Friday morning class.  They had called me last week asking if that was OK since it was my 4th choice and said we could say no and be put on a waiting list for one of the other days but I rather not take the risk of not getting in.

Dave laughs at me when I call it school.  He said it's more like a big play date.  I guess when you look at their little sample schedule, it doesn't look like much learning going on but I know it's more about the socialization...and getting him away from me for more than an hour at a time.

Pics - slightly graphic

Just documenting for his journal.  I really would have loved to have taken a picture of him in the Papoose Board but I think it was enough to have been snapping in the waiting room.

I tried to get a picture of the stitches today but they turned out blurry.
He's fine today. He was jumping off all the furniture as usual and making me extra nervous.

1st Stitches

Sooo...tonight, Adam was sitting on Dave's lap in the playroom and it was time to start getting ready for bed.  Dave put him down and Adam lost his balance and whacked his head on his train table. I didn't think it was going to be anything because the edges are all pretty rounded but when I picked him up, he was bleeding.  YIKES!  Adam was screaming and not wanting us to put anything on his head but we managed to stop the bleeding, assess the gash, and call his pediatrician who said the Close to Home was open until 8pm. Yay, since we live 5 minutes away! Boo because Adam was running around like nothing happened and so we had to chase him down and run to the car.   We got checked in at 7:40 and they came out immediately to try to stick some numbing gel on it that would have to sit for 25 minutes.  Well, Adam wouldn't have any of that and screamed and thrashed the whole time so the bandage holding the gel fell off.  Plan B - lidocaine (which equals needles but that's was fine with me ). Adam was fine in the waiting room for the 5 minutes it took to set up a room for him.  Once the nurses got near him, he would freak out again.  Fortunately, they have this cool thing called a Papoose board (seen below).

I know it looks horrible but there is NO holding on to this kid when he gets upset.  It's like a giant velcro burrito and then one of the nurses held his head since it needed to be held to the side.  He sounded possessed during the whole procedure!  I could make out "hugs" and "out" but the rest was very "red-rum"-ish.  The nurses said they were going to run if he started to spit-out pea soup.  3 stitches and a little hyperventilating later and he was fine.  Once we got him ready for bed and stories read, he was asleep within 5 minutes!

Pre-registration forms in

Adam and I went back to the preschool yesterday to turn in his pre-registration forms.  I don't know how long it will take to get the real registration and class assignment back since we are past the dates they had listed on the form.  Is it sad that kids are in school for a good 20 years??

Preschool decision

We have decided to send Adam to the Ourday preschool at the Messiah church in Uptown Westerville.  I liked the Enchanted Care place better but for a pre-preschool, this is fine. It is $64/month as opposed to $54/day.  I think Friday mornings are the only slot open so we have to hurry up and get our registration in.

Yo Gabba Gabba Live

We had SO much fun at the show in Cincinnati! I have some video of the beginning and end of Adam. The rest of the time he just sat quietly in Dave's lap. If it were to come to Columbus, I think we would see it again!

Car conversation

We went for a quick trip to Toys R Us tonight and we took the Focus per Adam's request. Usually, if the whole family is going somewhere, we take the Escape since it's easier to get Adam in and out. Anyway..Adam likes to hold on to the passenger side seatbelt but since I was in that seat using it, he couldn't.

Adam: Seatbelt please?
Dave: Mommy's using it.
Adam: Nooo! Seatbelt!!
Dave: Adam, Mommy has to wear it so she doesn't die. Do you want Mommy to die?
Adam: Yes. Mommy die, please?

Laughter ensues...
